Kids Music Day is an initiative by Keep Music Alive, an organization dedicated to promoting the value of music: educationally and therapeutically.
By partnering with music schools across the country, they are helping and hoping to focus attention on the importance of including music as part of our children’s education.
Vincent James is a co-founder of Kids Music Day and Keep Music Alive and he says, “So many public schools across the country are still cutting or reducing their music and arts programs. Research has shown how critical music and art education are to developing our children’s minds and character. Our mission is to spotlight music programs, wherever possible, to help raise awareness of how valuable music really is to our children and our collective future”.
Stacey Marmolejo, School of Rock Eden Prairie franchise owner, adds, “We are fortunate that our local schools still have music programs, but we can’t take them for granted. Keeping the importance of music education top of mind with our policy-makers will help ensure our children and our children’s children continue to benefit from music classes in our schools. Keep Music Alive and Kids Music Day help us do that.”
Children ages 6-17 are eligible for the free music lessons in either guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano or vocals. To guarantee a lesson time, call 952-934-7625. Drop-ins are welcome but free lessons will be provided first to those with a reservation and then on a first-come, first-served basis.
In addition to the free lessons, School of Rock Eden Prairie’s celebration of Kids Music Day includes giveaways, enrollment specials, live music and snacks.
School of Rock is located at 6585 Edenvale Blvd, Suite 100b, Eden Prairie MN 55346.
