Just as it’s a sign of spring when the area farmers markets set up and open in April and May, it’s also a sign of what’s coming when they begin to wind down toward the end of October.
But if visiting and shopping at a farmers market have become part of your weekend routine, that doesn’t necessarily have to stop.
Here are five Winter Markets to consider that are packing up and moving inside during the cold and snowy months:
First, the Linden Hills Farmers Market will move indoors on Sunday, November 2 and happen every Sunday until December 21 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm (extended hours till 4:00 pm on November 23, November 30, December 14 and December 21).
Enjoy goods from the farm and food entrepreneurs, coffee, food trucks and cooking demonstrations. And, if you are into crafts, you’ll find that, too with crafty items, craft supplies, gifts and flea market finds.
The Linden Hills Winter Market is happening at Sunnyside Gardens, 3723 W. 44th St., Minneapolis.
The brand new Calhoun Square Winter Market kicked off on Saturday, October 25 and will run every Saturday from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm through February, 2015.
Each week you will find a rotating array of Minnesota vendors, featuring gourmet foods, home decor, jewelry, apparel, health and wellness products and much more.
The Calhoun Square Winter Market is located on the first floor of Calhoun Square at 3001 Hennepin Ave. in Minneapolis.
The Mill City Farmers Market moves inside and into the Mill City Museum every second Saturday of the month starting in November through April, 2015 (November 8, December 13, January 10, February 14, March 14 and April 11).
This winter market runs from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. The Mill City Museum is located at 704 S. Second St., Minneapolis.
The Kingfield and Fulton Farmers Markets join forces for a couple of indoor, winter markets again this year. You’ll find some of your favorite vendors from both markets as well as some that are unique just to the indoor markets. As you peruse the foods and crafts, you’ll enjoy live music and you can either sip on beer or wine as it is sold by the glass.
They are having a Holiday Market on Sunday, November 16 from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm. Then the regular Winter Markets are Saturday, January 24, February 28 and March 28 from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm.
All of the Winter Markets are happening at Bachman’s at 6010 Lyndale Ave. S. in Minneapolis.
The Bloomington Farmers Market moves indoors for just two Saturdays – November 8 and December 13, 2014. Here, you will find winter produce such as onions, potatoes, carrots and apples. You’ll also find a nice selection of cheeses, baked good, coffees, chocolates, nuts and more…plus a nice assortment of various crafts.
Both days the Bloomington Winter Market runs from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm and you can find it inside of the Bloomington Civic Plaza at 1800 W. Old Shakopee Rd.
These five winter markets will surely help us get through the season and we’ll be looking forward to next year’s outdoor market season!
