This week, we are doing something a bit different. Rather than profile one or two animals looking for a forever home, we are featuring a special initiative that our friends at Pause 4 Paws are spearheading.
Since 2011, Pause 4 Paws has raised money for a number of local rescue organizations. Now, however, their reach is going international as they help save the Cuale Island cats, which have been previously owned and are now abandoned, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
One of their beneficiary organizations, Puro Gato, supports these cats with food, medical care and spay/neutering services. But truth be told, there are too many cats to care for.
The rescue organizations in Puerto Vallarta can keep up with the abandoned kittens, puppies and dogs, but they cannot keep up with the “adult” cats (most are between 7 months and 2 years old).
What’s more, the cats that remain on the streets are being poisoned and abused, and need help.
That’s where Pause 4 Paws’ special initiative, Gotta Getta Gato comes in.
It is a fundraising effort in partnership with Puro Gato to raise $10,000 and relocate between 50 and 75 of these cats to loving homes in Minnesota.
So far, eight cats have made their way to Minnesota, with more arriving starting on March 1 and throughout the month.
Angel of Hope Animal Rescue is fostering many of these cats, but Pause 4 Paws is looking for other loving foster homes as well. And of course, they are all available for adoption once vetted.
You can see the all of the beautiful cats that are making their way to Minnesota here. Their name, age and sex are noted, and if you see one you’d like to learn more about, please contact Angel of Hope or Pause 4 Paws.
And there’s still time to support this effort, if you’d like. You can find more information on how to get involved here.
