Mark your calendar for October 13, 14 and 15 as four prominent chefs from Mexico City will take over three Twin Cities restaurant hotspots, cooking some authentic cuisine of Mexico City (we’re told they’re even brining ingredients directly from Mexico with them to ensure flavor and authenticity).
The exchange is part of an initiative by Sabores CDMX (Flavors of Mexico City), which was launched in 2015 to promote Mexico City gastronomy and encourage international tourism to Mexico City. One way they do this is by pairing renowned chefs from Mexico City with U.S. chefs to create culinary experiences for diners that capture the essence and flavor of Mexico City.
The four Mexican chefs are Chef Fernando Martínez of Yuban and Seneri; Chef Arturo Fernández of La República and Raíz; and Chefs Cesar Vázquez Trejo and Diego Niño of NEXO.
While in Minneapolis, they will be working with Chef Jim Christiansen of Heyday; Chef Mike DeCamp of Monello; and Chef Ryan Cook of Sea Change.
And you get to benefit!
If you are dining at any of the three local participating restaurants on October 13, 14 or 15, you will have the opportunity to order from an authentic Mexican menu, specially prepared by the chefs from Mexico City.
What’s more, you will be qualified to enter a contest for a trip for two to Mexico City, including airline tickets, lodging for two nights, and dinner at one of the participating restaurants. To enter the contest, diners must follow @Sabores_CDMX on Instagram and share a photo of their meal using the hashtag #MexicoCityFlavors.
No advance tickets are needed, though participating restaurants encourage diners to make reservations.
