Have you heard about the Minneapolis Art Lending Library? It’s a local nonprofit that lets every day people to borrow original works of art – to display at their home – for two months, free of charge.
And just as their mission is to help community members experience the joys of art, they also strive to give local artists exposure by accepting submissions of all kinds of artwork – including paintings, drawings, photographs, prints, sculptures, ceramics, and more – to include in their circulating collection.
Every two months, the Minneapolis Art Lending Library (MALL) opens to the public, inviting the community to browse their collection of original artwork. Find something you like? You may check it out and enjoy at home. Then after two months, you return your piece and if you’d like, borrow something again.
And did we mention this is a free service?
In fact, MALL will be celebrating their one-year anniversary of being a non-profit with a fundraiser party on August 11, happening at The Soap Factory.
You can preview new works from local artists, partake in a live auction, and enjoy free food and drink and entertainment.
There is no cost to attend, just as there is no cost to borrow art. But, they do ask that you RSVP via email.
The event is happening on August 11 from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm on at The Soap Factory, 514 Second St. SE, in Minneapolis.
