Check it out and enjoy!
Friday, July 29 – 2016 Northeast Dog Parade
Northeast Minneapolis Riverfront District
Who doesn’t love a dog parade? Apparently, not a lot of people. Last year, over 1,000 people showed up with their four-legged friends, and organizers are hoping this year’s parade will be even bigger!
Starting at 5:00 pm, dogs and their humans are going to gather on the Riverfront, across from the Wilde Roast Cafe. Plenty of vendors will be on hand and activities will be taking place to curb any short attention spans, but if you’d rather, you are welcome to look at all the pets and people in costume (which are encouraged).
Then, at 6:00 pm, Officer Elliot Wong of the Minneapolis Police Department will escort the parade through the Northeast Minneapolis Business District. The parade will end where it began, on the Riverfront, for more fun including treats and prizes.
Saturday, July 30 – Red Hot Art Festival 2016
Stevens Square Park, 1801 Stevens Ave. S., Minneapolis
This year marks the 15th anniversary of this two-day festival. The mission of the Red Hot Art Festival is to connect attendees with over 200 local artists, 20 local bands and performers, community organizations, food trucks, hands-on demonstrations for people of all ages and much more.
The festival kicks off on Saturday at 10:00 am with yoga in the park and runs all day, both Saturday and Sunday. They have a great line-up of music both days and lots of activities, too. And it’s right by Loring Park, which is holding its annual Art Festival this weekend as well.
Sunday, July 31 – World’s Biggest Water Balloon Fight
Gold Medal Park, 900 S. 2nd St., Minneapolis
We sure do love our water in Minneapolis, so it makes sense that the World’s Largest Water Balloon Fight take place here. Actually, the folks from the Guinness Book of World Records will be in town for the event in the hopes of shattering the old record.
The old record, by the way, stands at 8,957 participants and was achieved on August 27, 2011 by Christian Student Fellowship at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. That record is totally breakable.
This is family-friendly and fun for all ages. The fun starts at 2:00 pm and it is BYOB – bring your own balloons.
